About the race
We acknowledge that this event takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Qualicum and K’ómoks First Nations.
The Vancouver Island Trail Running Series season finale takes place in Qualicum Bay on Saturday, October 31, 2026, with the Lighthouse Community Centre (240 Lions Way, Qualicum Beach, BC) as the event hub. Course maps and route files are provided for participants.
Distances offered:
- Long course: 27 km, 345 m vertical gain, 3 aid stations at 6.7 km, 13.2 km and 18.2 km.
- Short course: 11 km, 135 m vertical gain, 1 aid station at 5.8 km.
- Kids race: 1 km; kid’s race registration fees support the Lighthouse Community Centre.
Event logistics note that there is ample parking at the community hall and volunteers will direct parking. Bib pick up requires a government issued photo ID and takes place inside the community centre. The event is cupless so participants must bring a personal drinking vessel or purchase one from the event merch tent. Aid stations will offer water, Gatorade, fruit, chips, pickles and other snacks. Finish line snacks will be available in the community hall.
There is a Halloween costume contest with categories for funniest, best child, best group and best banquet costume; prizes are usually awarded at the series banquet. No banquet will be held for 2026 due to a provincial election date change. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
