The CVRR Backyard Ultra takes place on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds, 4839 Headquarters Rd, Courtenay, BC V9J 1P2, Canada. The event uses a marked loop that passes through the exhibition grounds' forests and fields.
The format requires runners to start a new lap exactly on the hour and complete a loop of 6.706 km. All entrants begin each subsequent lap exactly at the top of the next hour and continue this pattern until they are no longer willing or able to continue. When a runner stops, they remain on site while others continue their laps.
Organizers impose a maximum of 30 yards / 30 hours for all runners. If more than one runner crosses the line after completing 30 yards on Sunday, July 26, the final finisher will be determined by a tie-breaking Mystery Challenge at the Start-Finish area. There is only one official finisher for the event.
A team category allows registration as a 3 to 5 person team. Team members all start together but run individually; at the end the team's total laps are tallied to rank teams. Awards are planned for the team with the most yards, for best costumes, and for special team draw prizes. Team members do not have to complete the same number of yards.
Camping is available on the Friday and Saturday nights on site. Water and electricity are included in the camping fee, listed as CA$39.66 per night. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
