CVRR Backyard Ultra 2026

The event consists of repeating laps of 6.706 km called "yards," run once at the start of every hour. Each yard must be completed in one hour or less to count. The event continues until only one runner remains or until a maximum of 30 yards is reached. If more than one runner completes 30 yards, a mystery contest will decide the winner.

The course uses soft surfaces on the Horse Track and River Trails around the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds, with very limited pavement. The route will be well marked and the first laps will be marshalled to ensure familiarity.

The venue is the lower field of the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds. Runners may set up a personal support station on the shaded grass. Water, electricity, and washrooms will be available. Camping for the weekend is offered for a fee of $35 per night.

Race entries are sold out, but transfers are allowed through Race Roster for a small processing fee and subject to a transfer deadline. Teams of up to five people can enter; team scoring is the sum of individual yards. Prizes include a specially designed wooden medal and plaque for the overall winner, team awards, Hummingbird categories, and Best Costume.

Organizers are coordinating volunteers and expect participants and supporters to assist with event duties. Participants should bring adequate personal nutrition and gear for the expected duration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
