SCT Stage Race - qathet Old Growth

The SCT Stage Race runs from September 9 to 14, 2026 along the Sunshine Coast Trail in qathet, British Columbia, on Tla’amin territory. The event covers the full trail in five stages for a total distance of 165 km, passing through primary coastal forests, rocky coastal bluffs and granite ridgelines. The route traces valleys and ridges between ʔayajuθəm (Desolation Sound) and Saltery Bay.

The schedule includes an orientation evening on September 9 at 32 Lakes Cafe & Bakery and stage racing from September 10 to 14. The first stage departs from Sarah Point after a boat transfer from Lund Harbour; shuttle services connect Townsite, Lund Harbour and Saltery Bay as described in the logistics. An event vehicle transports participants’ personal gear to evening camps each day.

Required gear listed for participants includes camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, pad), adequate layers, an emergency blanket, a headlamp, a hydration pack, an emergency communication device (for example inReach), and a phone or digital device for trail maps. Proceeds from the race will support the Tla'amin Nation Guardians Program and qPAWS. Registration is limited to 20 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
