Hope Trail Festival
Hope Trail Festival is a multi-day trail running festival held at Newnham Park in Plymouth (PL7 5BN). The event uses a well-marked loop of approximately 5 miles and offers timed endurance formats in which participants complete as many laps as possible within a set period.
Races are offered in three timed formats and a children’s event:
- 12 hours
- 24 hours
- 36 hours
- Kids race : approximately 1.7 miles
Entries can be solo, in pairs, or in teams of three to eight. Only one runner from a pair or team may be on the course at any one time; all team members may run a joint final lap that counts as one lap. All participants who complete at least one lap receive a bespoke Hope Trail Festival medal. Additional awards include Bronze/Silver/Gold medals for the 12/24/36 hour categories, podium trophies by category, and a 100-mile buckle for solo runners who reach that milestone.
Event facilities on the private estate include free participant camping (plus one adult and children under 16), off-road parking, toilets, drinking water taps, on-site food outlets and trade stands. There is a staffed checkpoint about two miles into the lap stocked with water, cola, Tailwind Mandarin Orange and snacks; the transition area also provides refreshments and vendor services. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and a primary light is required during hours of darkness. The organiser may withdraw participants on health or safety grounds.
