Hope Trail Festival is a timed trail running festival held at Newnham Park, Plymouth PL7 5BN. The event uses a well marked loop of approximately 5 miles for three timed endurance formats: 12 hour, 24 hour and 36 hour. Runners may enter as Solo, as a Pair or as a Team of three to eight. A separate children’s race for participants up to age 16 uses part of the main course and is approximately 1.7 miles.

The event includes free participant camping with one accompanying adult and children under 16 covered by the entry. Parking is off road and free. A single checkpoint sits about two miles into the loop and is stocked with water, cola, Tailwind Mandarin Orange and snacks. The transition area and race village offer additional refreshments, traders, masseurs and food outlets. Organisers provide event photography and basic sanitary facilities; there are no electric hook ups.

Awards include bespoke medals for all runners completing at least one lap, bronze/silver/gold medals for the 12/24/36 hour categories and trophies for top finishers by category. Solo runners who reach 100 miles receive a buckle and medal; pairs and teams that reach 100 miles receive a buckle to share and individual medals. The route is reversed periodically so course records are maintained for different directions.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and a primary light is required during hours of darkness. Dogs are permitted when leashed and subject to event safety rules.
