Hope Trail Festival : overview
Hope Trail Festival takes place over a weekend in July 2026 at Newnham Park, Plymouth. The event runs on a well marked loop of approximately 5 miles and offers timed endurance options of 12, 24 and 36 hours for solo runners, pairs or teams of three to eight. A childrens race is held as part of the festival on a course of about 1.7 miles. Finishers receive bespoke Hope Trail Festival medals; 12/24/36 hour participants receive bronze, silver or gold medals respectively, and podium trophies are awarded in solo, pairs and team categories. Solo runners who reach 100 miles receive a 100 mile buckle; pairs and teams that reach 100 miles receive a buckle to share.
Course, facilities and rules
The route is set on a private estate about five miles from Plymouth city centre and features an oak wooded valley and mixed-trail terrain. There is a single checkpoint about 2 miles into the lap stocked with water, cola, Tailwind Mandarin Orange and snacks. A transition area offers additional refreshments and on-site food and trade vendors. Camping is included for each participant plus one adult and children under 16; parking is free and off-road. Toilets and drinking water taps are provided; there are no showers or electric hook-ups. Dogs are allowed on leads and a canicross gathering area is provided. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and a primary light is required for hours of darkness.
