The Hope Trail Festival is a timed trail running event held at Newnham Park, Plymouth PL7 5BN. The main course is a well marked 5 mile loop laid out within the estate. The festival includes timed endurance options of 12 hour, 24 hour and 36 hour, plus a childrens race of approximately 1.7 miles.

Race format and awards

Races are available as Solo, Pair or Team entries (teams of 3 to 8). Only one runner from a Pair or Team may be on the course at a time; teams may run a joint final lap. Lap counting is by completed laps within each event time window; a final lap started before the time limit may be completed and will count. All finishers who complete at least one lap receive a bespoke Hope Trail Festival medal. Bronze, Silver and Gold medals are awarded for the 12, 24 and 36 hour categories respectively. Podium trophies are given to top Male, Female and Mixed categories. Solo runners who reach 100 miles receive a 100 mile buckle; Pairs and Teams that reach 100 miles receive a shared buckle and individual medals.

Logistics and rules

Camping for participants is provided, including one accompanying adult and children under 16. Parking is available on site. Toilets and drinking water taps are provided; there are no showers or electric hook-ups. A single checkpoint at about 2 miles supplies water, cola, Tailwind (Mandarin Orange) and snacks. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times; a primary light (headtorch) is required for night running. Dogs are allowed on a lead and must be controlled; canicross runners have a dedicated gathering area. Free professional event photography and on-site food and trade vendors are provided.
