Hope Trail Festival
Hope Trail Festival is a timed trail running event held at Newnham Park, Plymouth (PL7 5BN). The event is run on a well marked loop of approximately 5 mile per lap and offers timed endurance formats over 12 hours, 24 hours and 36 hours. Runners may enter as Solo, as a Pair, or as a Team of three to eight. A timed childrens race is held on Saturday over a course of approximately 1.7 miles.
The event provides free camping for participants and covers camping for one accompanying adult plus children under 16. Parking is free and off road. Basic site facilities include drinking water taps along the arena edge, toilets and urinals that are serviced during the event, and a range of food and trade outlets on the race village.
All competitors who complete at least one lap receive a bespoke Hope Trail Festival medal. The 12 hour, 24 hour and 36 hour finishing categories receive bronze, silver and gold Hope Ultra medals respectively. Solo runners who reach 100 miles receive a 100 mile buckle; pairs and teams that reach 100 miles share a buckle and each receive a medal. A single checkpoint at about 2 miles on the course is stocked with water, cola, Tailwind Nutrition (Mandarin Orange flavour) and snacks.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times during the race. A primary light such as a headtorch is required and must be worn from 7pm until dawn when on the course. The route is reversed between years so there are two course record orientations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
