Dartmoor In A Day 2026

Dartmoor In A Day is a fully supported route across Dartmoor offered as two distances. The route is approximately 50 km and is almost entirely off road. It passes through remote moorland and features sections such as the East Okement valley, Hangingstone Hill, the East Dart valley, Bellever Tor, West Dart stepping stones, Ryder’s Hill, a clapper bridge over the upper Avon, the Dartmoor Volcano and views along the Erme valley out to sea.

The event starts at Okehampton, passes through Postbridge and finishes at Ivybridge Community College. The 30 km option starts in Postbridge and follows the remainder of the 50 km route. The course is open to runners and walkers and is supported by qualified Mountain Leaders who act as mobile marshals, assist with navigation between checkpoints and provide First Aid cover. Participants may walk or run with these leaders but are not obliged to.

There are checkpoints with refreshments at two road crossings, at Postbridge and Combestone Tor. Maps can be downloaded for the Outdoor Active app and a GPX file will be available; paper map references recommended are OL 28 Dartmoor 1:25,000 or BMC Dartmoor 1:40,000. Mandatory and suggested kit is detailed in participant handbooks. Coach shuttle transport to the start is available as an optional extra and departs from Ivybridge Community College. Entry fee includes GPS tracker hire.
