Dartmoor In A Day 2026
Dartmoor In A Day is a fully supported journey across the open moorland of Dartmoor. The event is open to both runners and walkers and offers two distinct distances:
- 50 km (Ultra)
- 30 km (Challenge)
The 50 km route begins in Okehampton and travels south to the finish at Ivybridge Community College. This course is almost entirely off-road, passing through remote areas such as the East Okement valley, Hangingstone Hill, and the East Dart valley. Notable landmarks along the path include Bellever Tor, the West Dart stepping stones, Ryder’s Hill, and the Dartmoor Volcano.
The 30 km route starts at Postbridge and follows the same southward path as the longer distance to the finish line. Both courses feature checkpoints at road crossings in Postbridge and Combestone Tor where refreshments are provided. Food and drink are also available at the finish location in Ivybridge.
Experienced Mountain Leaders support participants by assisting with navigation and providing route guidance between checkpoints. Participants may choose to travel with these leaders or navigate independently using provided GPX files or recommended physical maps. Safety cover and First Aid are provided in remote sections of the course.
Logistical support includes a mandatory GPS tracker for all participants. An optional coach shuttle service is available for an extra fee to transport individuals from the finish at Ivybridge Community College to the starting points in Okehampton or Postbridge. Under 18s may participate if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
