The Hitchcock Experience : G.O.A.T.z (December 5-6, 2026)
The event is a multi-distance trail running weekend at Hitchcock Nature Center in Honey Creek, Iowa. Distances offered include a 100 mile, a 101K "The Hard Way" format, a 50 mile, and a Half Marathon. Field size is limited to 125 runners.
Course formats use repeated loops: a 20 mile loop for the 100 mile, a 16.7 mile loop for the 50 mile, and a shortened version of the 16.7 mile loop for the Half Marathon to reach 13.1 miles. Each full loop contains roughly 4,928 feet of elevation change. Surface types range from single track to fire-road-size trail and a small amount of maintenance road. Three manned aid stations are available per full loop.
Aid stations and race logistics:
- Lodge start/finish and main aid, drop bags and crew access.
- The Oasis at about 6 miles, no crew access.
- Black Diamond at about 11.5 miles, full aid for full loops only.
Race operations require all runners to carry a bottle or hydration pack; cups will be limited. Drop bags must be stored outside in a designated walled shelter at the Lodge. Pacers are permitted for 100 milers with defined pickup locations and limited access. There is a limited crew interaction exception at the campground about 3.5 miles from the start with strict rules on runner movement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
