Event Overview

The Hill to Hollow 100km is a trail race starting and finishing in the Morgan Hill State Forest near Tully, New York. It takes place on September 19, 2026. Course Description

The course is approximately 63.7 miles long with about 10,286 feet of elevation change. It follows primarily single-track trails, including the Onondaga Trail and North Country Trail, crossing four counties. The route passes through Morgan Hill State Forest, Highland Forest County Park, DeRuyter Reservoir, Muller Hill State Forest, and Mariposa State Forest. Key features include misty ponds, vistas, waterfalls, and the highest point in Onondaga County. The event has a hard cutoff time of 20 hours (3 AM).

Aid Stations and Logistics

There are seven aid stations along the course, plus the start/finish at Spruce Pond. Aid stations will provide water, Skratch hydration mix, ice (if temperatures merit), and snacks like orange slices, bananas, pickles, PB&J sandwiches, potato chips, pretzels, Oreos, and candy. A limited selection of hot foods (e.g., ramen, grilled cheese, pierogi) will be available at Aid Station #7. All aid stations are crew-accessible, though road conditions may not suit low-clearance vehicles.

Participant Requirements

The event emphasizes self-sufficiency and navigation in areas without reliable cellular coverage. Required gear includes: a fully charged cell phone with the race director's number saved; a navigation device capable of functioning offline with the course GPS file loaded; a headlamp with extra batteries; a reflective vest; an emergency blanket; a waterproof shell with a hood; a water filtration device; and the capacity to carry at least 800mL of liquid and a 400 kcal food reserve. Pacers are permitted for solo 100km runners after approximately mile 33 (Aid Station #4), with only one pacer allowed per runner at a time.

Relay Details

For the 100km relay, each team member must complete at least one leg. Teams decide how to allocate the eight legs amongst themselves.

Registration and Policies

Registration closes on September 16, 2026. All runners receive a pair of SCTR socks. Prizes are awarded to top finishers in each gender division and for the fastest relay team. Refunds are not granted under any circumstances. Deferrals are available for pregnancy, injury, or for those who elect to volunteer at the race (if slots remain).
