Green Lakes Endurance Runs
Green Lakes Endurance Runs are held at the Tulip Hill Picnic Area in Green Lakes State Park near Fayetteville, NY. The event includes fixed-distance ultras and a timed 12-hour event along marked trail loops around the park's upland forest and lakes.
The course surface varies and includes well maintained single and double track, grassy single track, dirt roads and some asphalt. Each fixed-distance lap is almost exactly eight miles and includes two ascents and one long descent through shaded, rooty forest sections. Upper meadows called the Serengeti provide about 3+ miles of rolling, largely unshaded terrain per loop. The lower lakes section is shaded, flatter, and has occasional roots. The timed 12-hour race uses a separate clockwise loop of about 3 miles around Green and Round Lakes where participants repeatedly circle the lower lakes portion.
Aid and race support include two stocked aid stations and one unmanned water drop, with racers within 3.75 miles of the next aid. The course is marked with turns and confidence markers every 100 to 200 meters. Participants and crew may place personal gear and 10'x10' canopies near the McHenry-Main Aid Station at Race HQ on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registered entrants who sign up at least 14 days before the race are eligible for a race shirt; small sizes are available by gender but small shirts are not exchangeable. Finishers receive a medal and either a GLER coffee cup or pint glass plus a bumper sticker. Podium places and top female finishers are recognized for each distance. Single first-place winners are recognized by male and female in the listed age divisions. Each registrant receives one raffle ticket and may purchase more. Registration refunds are not accepted after July 16, 2026, and there are no deferrals to 2027. All race awards and finisher items are distributed on race day only and will not be mailed.
