Last Woman Standing - Phoenix
Last Woman Standing is a women's backyard ultra held on 09/05/2026 at a homestead on County Line Road in Phoenix, NY. The event uses a repeated 4.167 mile loop run at regular hourly intervals; a dinner bell at the homestead signals the start of each lap. Runners follow forest trails with gentle ups and downs, cross a small stream, and run along an ancient glacial esker. About halfway the course leaves the dense woods for a grassy perimeter trail around a large field with long, slow inclines and descents. A watchtower and lantern help navigation back toward the forest. At about 3.5 miles the route returns to woods, skirts a former Christmas tree farm, and finishes at the homestead.
Organizers provide aid at the start/finish area including snacks, water, and energy drink; evening extras may include coffee, pizza, and sweets. Participants may set up support tents with crew in a large grassy yard at the start/finish. Under backyard ultra rules, runners must begin each lap carrying everything they need for that lap; no food, fuel, or aid may be provided on course. Assistive devices such as trekking poles are not permitted. Runners who continue after dusk are required to carry a headlamp with spare batteries.
The event recognizes common ultra milestones, including:
