Highwoods Country Park - Sunday 7th December
This is a regional colour coded orienteering event at Highwoods Country Park, Colchester (Postcode CO4 9UJ; What3Words: kite.exchanges.evenly). Entries close at 17:00 on 6th December. Entry fees from 29th October are: Senior £10/£12, Senior chip hire £1, Junior/Student £4, Junior/Student chip hire £1. Late fees from 6th December are: Senior £12/£14 and Junior/Student £5. Juniors are defined as under 21 on race day. Enquiries and the start are located just beyond the Chanterelle Car Park; the Chantrelle car park will not be available for competitor parking.
Parking is at Tesco Extra, Highwoods, Colchester (CO4 9ED). Free parking is available for up to three hours; there is a £70 penalty for exceeding this. If a stay longer than three hours is unavoidable, cars can be registered beforehand at the store Customer Services counter. Travel by public transport is possible via Colchester North railway station and the number 8 bus. Competitors should note they will need to cross roads between the Tesco car park and the assembly area; those under 16 should be accompanied by an adult on this route.

The park is a mixture of woodland and open grassland with some meadows and a lake. Maps use scales 1:10,000 (5m contours) for Blue, Green, Short Green, Light Green and Orange, and 1:7,500 (5m contours) for Orange, Yellow and White. Maps are printed on waterproof paper; control descriptions are printed on the map and loose descriptions will also be available. Facilities listed include enquiries, dibber collection and download; there is a café and toilets at the Tesco store and at the Visitor Centre. Water will not be provided. Dogs on leads are allowed in the Country Park. Participants take part at their own risk; full leg cover is advised and users should take care around other park users.
