Highland Forest 1-2-3 Trail Run
Fabius, United States • 23 May 2026
Event Overview
The Highland Forest 1-2-3 Trail Run is held at Highland Forest County Park in Fabius, New York. This event takes place on a course comprised of 95% hiking trails and 5% dirt roads, featuring a mix of single track and wider logging lanes. Participants encounter varied terrain including mud, roots, gravel, and sections covered in pine needles.
The race utilizes a loop system based on a 10-mile circuit. The direction of the first loop changes annually, and runners participating in multi-loop distances change directions for subsequent laps. Participants have the option to switch race lengths during the event provided they meet specific cut-off requirements.
Distances
- 10 Miles: A single loop with 1,380 feet of elevation gain.
- 20 Miles: Two loops with 2,760 feet of elevation gain.
- 31 Miles (50K): Three loops with 4,140 feet of elevation gain.
Course Information and Logistics
The event starts and finishes at the Community Pavilion located across from the park's main parking lot. The trail is marked with blazes for navigation. Participants may encounter park vehicles on dirt roads or at crossings.
Support on the course is minimal. One water station is planned approximately 5 miles into the loop, and additional hydration and fuel are available at the start/finish area. Food and beverages are provided at the pavilion following the run. The park offers restrooms in a separate building near the pavilion, but no shower facilities are available on-site.
Requirements
Runners are expected to carry their own hydration and fuel as needed. Due to the natural environment, participants are advised to carry necessary medication if they have allergies to insects or forest wildlife. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
