High Lonesome 100

Mount Princeton, United States • 17-18 Jul 2026

High Lonesome 100 course overview

The High Lonesome 100 is a 100 mile loop trail race in the Sawatch Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The course starts and finishes at the base of Mount Princeton and runs through San Isabel and Gunnison National Forests, Chaffee County, and Colorado State Lands. The event is fully permitted by the United States Forest Service, Chaffee County, and the Colorado Land Board.

The route features approximately 23,300' of total elevation gain, an average elevation near 10,426', a high point around 13,100', and a low point near 8,200'. The race uses about 66% single track, 27% mining roads, 3% gravel roads, and 4% paved roads, with roughly 15% of the course above treeline. Runners traverse five alpine passes, roughly 27 miles of the Continental Divide Trail, and about 35 miles of the Colorado Trail, and pass through two historic ghost towns.

Aid stations are staffed by experienced 100 mile volunteers and the overall course has a 37 hour cutoff. Course materials provided include full maps, KMZ and GPX files, turn-by-turn directions, and printable quads. The route combines long alpine ridges and basins with extended single track sections, followed by a continuous stretch on the Colorado Trail before returning to the final approach at Mount Princeton.
