Head For The Hills

Head For The Hills takes place on October 3, 2026 at Forest Ridge Preserve in the Chagrin River valley, Moreland Hills, Ohio. The event raises funds for the Moreland Hills Parks Commission to support park preservation and improvements.

Distances offered:

• 5K Run : 3.1 miles
• 1.5 Mile Hike : 1.5 miles

The 5K Run is an out-and-back course along Chagrin River Road with gently rolling hills, residential scenery, and early fall foliage. The 5K is chip timed using MyLaps BibTag and includes overall and age-group awards with cash gift card prizes for top overall finishers and awards for multiple age categories.

The 1.5 Mile Hike follows wooded trails through hills, ravines, and streams within Forest Ridge Preserve and can be completed as a self-guided walk at an individual pace.

Registration fees are listed for each event with reduced rates for children ages 6 to 15 and free participation for children age 5 and under. Registrants receive a commemorative event shirt if registered by September 15. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from a local food truck. On-site care and recovery services will be provided by NovaCare Rehabilitation, including warm-ups, taping, and post-event recovery treatments.

Proceeds from the event are used for trail resurfacing, bench installation, picnic table repairs, landscaping improvements, and other park projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
