Harry Corrow Freedom Run

The Harry Corrow Freedom Run is a Fourth of July run/walk held in conjunction with the July Fourth festivities in Newport and Derby, Vermont. The event takes place on a gravel bike path and on wooded trails near Lake Memphremagog.

A Half Marathon distance was added recently and expands course views of Lake Memphremagog and the islands of Derby Bay. Post-run refreshments include ice cream and watermelon. The event is presented in memory of a beloved Newport City recreation director who suffered severe, masked depression and died by suicide; twenty percent of all fees are dedicated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness Vermont to support suicide prevention efforts.
