Harry Corrow Freedom Run

The Harry Corrow Freedom Run is a community run and walk held in conjunction with July Fourth festivities in Newport and Derby. The course uses a gravel bike path and wooded trails and offers views of Lake Memphremagog and the islands of Derby Bay.

Distances offered include:

  • 2 miles
  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • 10 miles
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles)

A half marathon distance was added last year and extends the course views along the lake and islands. After the event, participants are offered ice cream and watermelon.

The run is held in memory of a local recreation director who suffered masked depression and died by suicide. Twenty percent of all fees are donated directly to the National Alliance on Mental Illness Vermont to support suicide prevention efforts.
