Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn Trail Races

The Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn Trail Marathon is an event featuring three distinct distances based in Saltburn-by-the-Sea. The races start and finish at Huntcliff Secondary School. Participants can choose between the following options:

  • Trail Marathon: Approximately 28 miles with 4000 ft of ascent.
  • Half Marathon: Approximately 14.5 miles with 2200 ft of ascent.
  • Trail 10k: Approximately 7.5 miles with 1030 ft of ascent.

The courses are not taped or signed. Runners are responsible for their own navigation and must carry a printed route description and map, which are provided as downloads by the organizer. A cut-off point is in place for the marathon distance at Trout Hall Lane; runners must reach this point within a specific timeframe or they will be diverted onto the half marathon route.

The event operates a strict compulsory kit policy for all distances. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, survival bag, foil blanket, and a spare long-sleeved base layer. Marathon runners must also carry a headtorch or torch and at least 500ml of water.

This is a cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own cups for drinks at checkpoints and the finish. No dogs are permitted to run in the races. All finishers receive a medal, and food such as cakes and crisps is provided at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
