The Hardmoors Saltburn trail races take place on Sunday 1 February 2026 at Saltburn Learning Campus (Huntcliff Secondary School), Marske Mill Lane, Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS12 1HJ. The event includes three circular courses with published distances and ascent figures:

  • Marathon – 28 miles, ascent 4,000 ft
  • Half Marathon – 14.5 miles, ascent 2,200 ft
  • Trail 10k – 7.5 miles, ascent 1,030 ft

The event has a maximum field of 350 participants. Age minimums are 18 for the marathon, 16 for the half marathon, and 10 for the 10k. Time limits are 9 hours for the marathon, 5 hours for the half, and 3 hours for the 10k.

Logistics and rules

Courses are not taped or signed; competitors are provided with downloadable route maps and descriptions and are responsible for navigation. GPX files are available. Mandatory kit must be carried for the duration of each race and failure to carry required items may result in disqualification. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, survival bag, foil blanket, spare long-sleeved base layer, printed route map/description and safety pins; a headtorch is mandatory for the marathon and 500 ml of water/sports drink must be carried for the marathon. Entry fees vary by distance and attached/unattached status, and entries open in April 2025 with entries closing 9 January 2026.
