Hard as OAK: Obstacle Race Derry-Londonderry

Hard as OAK is an obstacle race held in Derry / Londonderry on 20 and 21 June 2026. The event uses the terrain of the Faughan Valley and combines natural features with man made elements to form the course. The main course is a 10 km obstacle race that includes over 50 man made and natural obstacles.

The event also offers separate courses for younger participants:

  • 10 km main obstacle course with over 50 obstacles.
  • 5 km teen mudrace for ages 11 to 17.
  • 2 km miniOAK for ages 6 to 10.

Sixteen and seventeen year olds may take part in the main event under a chaperone system. The event lists partner organisations including Foyle Search & Rescue. Information on course layout, obstacles, and the teen and mini courses is provided by the organiser. A 12 km mountain race in County Tyrone with 500 m of ascent to the Mullaghcarn summit. The fully marked course requires Level B kit and is organised by Carmen Runners as part of the IMRA Ulster Championships and NIMRA League.

Four days of run or walk options across 105 miles of Inishowen on the Wild Atlantic Way, with full and half marathon distances and a different route each day.

A coastal 20 mile trail run from Portrush along the Causeway Coast Way, passing the Giant's Causeway, cliffs, beaches and castle ruins. The route sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and features mixed terrain.
