Hankley Common 10km
Hankley Common 10km is a guided trail run of 10 km that starts and finishes at Hankley Common in Surrey. The event takes place on Wednesday 14 January 2026 and Tuesday 24 March 2026. The meeting point is Hankley Common Lower Car Park, Elstead. The run visits areas of the common including the Lion's Mouth, where a 1943 reinforced concrete replica of part of the Atlantic Wall was built as a training aid. Parts of the common have been used for film and TV productions, and the area is an active MOD training area.
Route and experience
The route follows trails with varied views throughout. Sessions are offered as sunset runs during lighter months and as night runs during darker months; night runs use headtorches and run in a group for safety. The activity is led by an experienced trail and ultra runner who is also a qualified guide and coach.
Practical information
The cost is £16 per person. A car park is available at the meeting location and the common is accessible by car from the A3. Participants will receive a full kit list before the run. Silva head torches and Salomon trail shoes are available to trial on the run. An alcohol-free beer from Athletic Brewing Company may be offered at the end of the run, subject to availability. Group running pace is advised at about 10 min/mile (6 min/km) for sustained periods on trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
