The Serpent Trail is a trail running festival held on 4 July 2026 at Petersfield Rugby Club, Hampshire (GU31 4EP). The event takes place in the South Downs National Park and passes through heath, woodland, river meanders, greensand hills and villages. Coach transport to race starts is included with all race entries. Camping is available on Friday and Saturday nights. A kids race takes place on Friday evening. Food and a licensed bar will be available at the event venue. Walkers are welcome. Minimum age to enter is 16 or older.

Distances offered:

  • 100 km - 1785 m ascent, 9 checkpoints, 18 hour time limit
  • 75 km - 1200 m ascent, 7 checkpoints
  • 50 km - 700 m ascent, 5 checkpoints
  • 20 km - 2 checkpoints
  • 10 km - water station, 6 mile route

The 50 km starts near Petworth and finishes in Petersfield. Routes are signed and use mainly sandy trails and tracks that dry well; some short road sections are included. Entries open 10 October 2025 and close 27 June 2026, with several distances closing earlier (100k, 50k and 20k close 6 June 2026). Entry fees: 100km £150, 75km £120, 50km £90, 20km £46, 10km £32.
