Serpent Trail

Serpent Trail is a trail running event in the South Downs National Park, held on 3 July 2027 with the venue at Petersfield Rugby Club, Hampshire GU31 4EP. The event offers a range of mapped trail courses that pass through lowland heath, ancient woodland, coppices, greensand hills and rural villages.

Distances available:

• 100 km: 1,785 m ascent, 9 checkpoints, 18 hour time limit
• 75 km: 1,200 m ascent, 7 checkpoints, walkers welcome
• 50 km: starts near Petworth and finishes in Petersfield, 700 m ascent
• 20 km: woodland, open heath and river sections, 2 checkpoints
• 10 km: country roads, heathland paths and tracks, water station

Entries open 30 October 2026 and close 26 June 2027, with distance-specific closing dates for some distances. Entry fees are listed per distance and an instalment option is available for longer distances with the second payment due by 01/02/27.

Race features include coach transport to race starts included with entries, permanent Serpent Trail waymarking plus event signage, on-site camping on Friday and Saturday nights, a kids race on Friday evening, food and a licensed bar at the venue, and walkers are welcome on several distances.
