Serpent Trail
The Serpent Trail is a trail running event in the South Downs National Park, based at Petersfield Rugby Club, Hampshire (GU31 4EP). The event offers multiple distances along permanent Serpent Trail markings and additional race signage, with support checkpoints on the longer routes.
Distances available:
- 100 km - 1785 m total ascent, 9 checkpoints, 18 hour time limit
- 75 km - 1200 m total ascent, 7 checkpoints
- 50 km - 700 m total ascent, 5 checkpoints
- 20 km - 2 checkpoints
- 10 km - water station provided
Routes run through lowland heath, ancient woodland, greensand hills, river meanders and rural lanes. Surfaces are mainly sandy trails that tend to dry quickly, with generally small hills and a flatter second half on the longest course. Walkers are welcome on several distances.
Event services include coach transport to race starts included with entries, camping on the Friday and Saturday nights, a kids race on the Friday evening, food and a licensed bar at the venue. Entry minimum age is 16. Entry fees vary by distance and some longer distances close earlier than the main event closing date. The 100 km and 50 km offer an instalment payment option.
