Hahns Peak Vertical Trail Race

The Hahns Peak Vertical Trail Race is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Hahns Peak Quarry Lot in Clark, Colorado. The event is an 8 mile out and back trail run that travels 4 miles uphill to the summit and a 1912 fire lookout tower, then returns along the same route to the finish area.

The course is approximately 75% single track and 99% trail, with a mix of jeep road, single track and a loose rock talus slope on the final ascent. The route includes about 2,200 ft. of elevation gain. Chutes and course markings are placed on the talus slope to guide ascent and descent; runners are asked to remain on marked trails and take standard safety precautions. There is a time cutoff at the intersection before the final push to the summit; after that point, continuation is unofficial and may be unsupported.

Two start waves are offered; an earlier wave is available by advance request to the organizer and requires self-support along portions of the course. Prizes are awarded for top adult and youth finishers for eligible athletes who begin in the main race wave. Professional timing is provided by Kandu Timing. Proceeds benefit the Steamboat Springs High School Track and Cross Country programs.
