Event
The Hagg Mud 50K/25K is a trail ultrarun held at Henry Hagg Lake in Scoggins Valley Park near Gaston, Oregon. The event offers two race distances:
- 50K
- 25K
Registration includes access to aid stations, a post-race party with food and drinks, a complimentary parking voucher, covered bag drop (bring your own bag), and warming/changing tents at the finish. There is also an online store offering event apparel and swag.
Course and logistics
Both races start and finish at the C-Ramp recreation area and begin with a loop around the parking area before a short section of single track. Each race includes an out-and-back on gravel road that contains the largest elevation change on the courses (about 3 miles for the 50K; about 1.5 miles for the 25K). The trail portion runs counterclockwise around Hagg Lake: the 50K completes two laps, the 25K completes one lap. Named aid stations include Dam, Fenders Blue, and the Start/Finish; the 50K passes five aid stations in total, the 25K passes two.
This event operates CUPLESS aid stations; participants must bring a reusable cup, handheld, or hydration pack. Aid stations provide water, electrolytes, fruit, snacks, and packaged nutrition, and there are recycling and food-waste stations.
Rules, cutoffs and policies
The 50K enforces intermediate cutoffs and requires a pace equivalent to about a 17:10 minute-per-mile average; walkers are not permitted in the 50K. The 25K has a time limit of 7.5 hours (about a 29:00 minute-per-mile average). The event does not offer refunds; transfers between distances may be possible if spots are available.
Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each gender category (female, male, nonbinary). All finishers receive custom finisher socks and post-race refreshments. The race partners with a fund that can provide partial or full entry fee scholarships for eligible applicants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
