Crown Stub 100 : Stub Stewart State Park
Crown Stub 100 is a 100 mile ultramarathon held at Stub Stewart State Park, Oregon, with an additional two person Ultra Relay that follows the same course. The route records over 7,000 ft of elevation gain and uses a mix of surfaces: the Banks Vernonia State Trail (primarily asphalt), the Crown Zellerbach Trail (primarily hard packed gravel) and roughly ten percent on the park's dirt singletrack.
The course is a double out and back from the park. Runners head north on the Banks Vernonia Trail, pass around Vernonia Lake, link to the Crown Z Trail for about twenty miles toward Scappoose, then retrace back on the Crown Z and Banks Vernonia Trail. After the Stub Stewart Park crossing on the Banks Vernonia Trail (around mile 72) the course continues south ten miles to a turn in Banks, returns past the crossing (around mile 92), then follows Boomscooter Trail back to the Hill Top Day Use area (approx mile 93.5). A final single lap of the 6.5 mile Stub Stewart Trail Challenge completes the route.
There are 13 aid stations along the course, four of which are full service; Stewarts Gate and Vernonia are noted as full service with hot food options. Skratch Labs provides hydration and chews and some gel will be available. Runners may use two drop bags accessed multiple times at Stewarts Gate and Vernonia. Crew access is permitted at multiple points with the strict rule that crew members must not be inside a vehicle near the course. Pacers are allowed starting at Pisgah Aid Station (mile 40) and may not carry a runner's load. The event enforces a 32 hour cutoff for a recorded finish. Finishers receive a buckle and other awards.
