Event overview

The Greensand Way Ultra Run is a guided trail run of 30 miles on Saturday 2 May 2026. The run starts and finishes at West Hanger, near Guildford, Surrey. The cost is £45 per person. This is not a race; participants run together as a group and the leader provides route guidance and coaching during the event.

Route and logistics

The route follows parts of the North Downs Way and the Greensand Way. The course goes past Box Hill, then south to the Greensand Way, and includes ascents of Leith Hill, Pitch Hill, and Holmbury Hill before returning north towards Shere and back to West Hanger. A free car park is available at the start/finish and the location is a short run or taxi ride from a train station. An alcohol-free beer may be offered at the end of the run, subject to availability.

Participant requirements and support

Participants are advised to have run at least 22 miles in training and to be able to maintain an average trail pace of about 10 minutes per mile (6 minutes per km) for prolonged periods.
