Greensand Way Ultra Run

This guided trail run takes place on Saturday 1 May 2027, starting and finishing at West Hanger near Guildford, Surrey. The route covers 30 miles and the fee is £55 per person. There is a car park at the start and the venue is a short run or taxi ride from a train station.

The route includes sections of the North Downs Way and the Greensand Way. Runners follow the North Downs Way past Box Hill, then head south to join the Greensand Way and proceed west. Notable climbs and summits on the route include Leith Hill, Pitch Hill and Holmbury Hill, with final navigation north towards Shere and back to West Hanger.

This event is presented as a first taste of ultra running. The route is marked and led by an experienced ultra runner and coach who will provide guidance and answer questions during the day. The run is not a race; the group will move together, often hiking steeper climbs and regrouping regularly.

Participants are advised to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be comfortable maintaining an average trail pace of around 10 minutes per mile 6:15 per kilometre for prolonged periods. A full kit list will be provided and further practical information will be sent to participants before the event. A complimentary alcohol free beer may be available at the finish, subject to availability. Registration terms and conditions apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
