Greenland Trail Races - Larkspur, CO
The Greenland Trail Races take place on May 2, 2026, at Greenland Open Space in Larkspur, Colorado. The event includes four in-person distances and a virtual option: a 50K ultramarathon, a 25K, an 8 mile race, and a 4 mile race. The 2026 event serves as the RRCA National 50K Championship.
Distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 8 Mile
- 4 Mile (approximately 4.25 miles)
The course is set within more than 3,000 acres of Greenland Open Space and includes sections of the Colorado Front Range Trail and the Old Territorial Road. All routes run on dirt trails with wide, smooth double-track in many places. The course passes native grasslands, ponds, rolling Gamble oak hills and ponderosa pine, with views of Pikes Peak and nearby buttes. The saddle high point on the loop reaches about 7,400 feet near the five-mile mark. The 50K comprises four loops of the main circuit and the 25K two loops; the 8 mile and 4 mile use portions of the same loop.
Aid stations are located on each loop (no aid stations on the 4 mile). Stations provide water and Gatorade; gels are available for 25K and 50K runners beginning on the second lap, along with salty food items. A portable restroom is placed at the southern edge near the 3.5-mile aid station. Organizers encourage 25K and 50K runners to carry refillable bottles.
Logistics notes: pre-race packet pickup is offered at two retail locations and race-day pickup is available at the site. Parking at the Greenland trailhead is limited; overflow parking is located across the railroad tracks. Pacers are allowed on the final lap of the 50K only. Crewing is permitted only at designated aid station locations; a drop bag area is available about a quarter mile from the finish and must be managed by the runner. There is a time limit for completion and a hard cutoff to start the final 50K lap. All 50K participants must be 18 or older.
Entries include a gender-specific technical shirt, a finisher medal, timing with a disposable chip, event photos, and food at the finish expo. Awards are presented to overall male and female winners in each race and to the top three in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
