Greenland Trail Races
The Greenland Trail Races take place every May in the Greenland Open Space near Larkspur, Colorado. The event offers four trail running distances: 50K, 25K, 8 mile, and 4 mile. The course is entirely on wide, smooth dirt trails within the over 3,000-acre open space. The 2026 edition is designated as the RRCA National 50K Championship.
Race Course
All races start from the northern trailhead and follow the Old Territorial Road south. The courses pass through grasslands, by ponds, and through rolling hills, offering views of Pikes Peak. The four-mile course is approximately 4.25 miles long. The eight-mile, 25K, and 50K races share a loop that includes a high point at 7,400 feet. The 25K race completes the loop twice, and the 50K race completes it four times.
Race Information
Aid stations are located at miles 3.5 and 7.5 of each loop, providing Gatorade, water, and gels for the 50K and 25K runners. Portable restrooms are available on the course. Participants in the 50K must be 18 years or older. The finish line closes at 3:00 PM, with a hard cutoff at 1:00 PM to start the final 50K lap. Pacers are allowed only on the final lap of the 50K. Crew access is permitted only at designated aid station locations.
Registration Details
Registration includes a gender-specific technical shirt, a finisher medal, and pizza from Larkspur Pizzeria after the race. 50K finishers also receive a belt buckle. Prices increase as the race date approaches. Participants aged 17 and under receive a $5 discount for the 25K, 8 mile, and 4 mile races. Packet pickup is available on specific days in Colorado Springs and Lone Tree, or on race day at the event site.
Awards
An awards ceremony is held near the finish line after the race. Awards are given to the overall male and female winners in each race, and to the top three finishers in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
