Greenland Open Space Pack Burro Race 8 Mile

Larkspur, United States • 13 Sep 2025

The Greenland Open Space Pack Burro Race, presented by Double Rainbow Ranch, is the 4th annual event held in Larkspur, Colorado on the Greenland Open Space Trail. It offers two distances: 8 miles and 3 miles, raced by teams of one runner and one burro. The atmosphere blends friendly competition with the burro-donkey community spirit and appreciation for open space.

The course remains open to the public, with signs and safety guidelines in place. For top prizes in the 8-mile race, teams must wear pack saddles. All participants receive a gift, and camping is available in very limited quantities.

The event caps at 75 participants and requires health paperwork for out-of-state donkeys. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
