GreenFest on the Greenbelt
GreenFest on the Greenbelt is an event located in Aubrey, Texas, focused on health, wellness, and recreation. Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- 5K Trail Run
- 10K Trail Run
The event takes place at FM 428 Greenbelt Park and is organized by the Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County. The primary objective is to raise funds for the Texas State Parks and Wildlife Department to support improvements for the local Greenbelt and Ray Roberts Lake State Park.
The 1 Mile Fun Run is held around the festival area, allowing spectators to view the entire course. The 5K route consists almost entirely of off-road paths, leading participants along the Greenbelt Trail, across the Elm Fork Bridge, and through equestrian trails. The 10K course offers a more technical experience than standard Greenbelt surfaces, serving as an introduction to trail running. Due to the unpaved nature of the terrain, strollers are not permitted on the courses; however, dogs on a leash are welcome.
Participants in the 5K and 10K categories receive an event t-shirt, a finisher medal, finish line refreshments, and a swag bag with sponsor items. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in various age groups ranging from 14 and under to 65 and over. Beyond the races, the venue features a festival atmosphere with food trucks, vendors, and music. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
