GreenFest on the Greenbelt

GreenFest on the Greenbelt is an outdoor family festival in Aubrey, Texas, centered on health, wellness, and recreation. The event includes food trucks, vendors, music, and activities for families. It is presented by The Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The race raises funds for the Texas State Parks and Wildlife Department, with donations used locally to improve the Greenbelt and Ray Roberts Lake State Park. The previous race raised over $8,000.

Race details

The event on April 11, 2026 includes these distances:

  • 1 Mile Fun Run
  • 5K Trail Run
  • 10K Trail Run

The 5K course is almost entirely off-road and follows the Greenbelt Trail, crosses the Elm Fork Bridge, and includes equestrian trails. The 10K adds sections that are more technical than the usual Greenbelt surface. Dogs on a leash are allowed on all courses. Strollers are not allowed because much of the course is unpaved.

All 5K and 10K participants receive a swag bag with sponsor items, an event t-shirt, a finisher medal, and finish-line refreshments. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in standard age groups, from 14 & under through 65 & over. A packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the event at the race site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
