GreenFest on the Greenbelt : Aubrey, Texas
GreenFest on the Greenbelt is an outdoor festival that combines family-oriented activities with trail running and walking. The festival area includes food trucks, vendors, and live music. The event is presented by The Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and raises funds for the Texas State Parks and Wildlife Department; donations are used locally to support the Greenbelt and Ray Roberts Lake State Park.
The walking and running events use natural surfaces and park trails. The 5K course is almost entirely off-road, follows the Greenbelt Trail, crosses the Elm Fork Bridge, and includes equestrian trails. The 10K follows trail terrain with some sections that are more technical than the regular Greenbelt surface. Dogs on a leash may join for all distances; strollers are not allowed because much of the course is unpaved.
Participants in the 5K and 10K receive a swag bag, event t-shirt, finisher medal, and finish line refreshments. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 & under; 15-24; 25-34; 35-44; 45-54; 55-64; 65 & over. A pre-race packet pick up takes place on the day before the event at the race site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
