Green River Marathon : June 6, 2026
The Green River Marathon is a volunteer-run running event held in early June offering multiple distance options and relay participation. The 2026 program lists a full marathon, a half marathon, a 50K and relay teams.
- Marathon - 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon
- 50K
- Relay options
The course begins near the intersection of the Green River Trail and the Interurban Trail in South Kent (S. 259th and 74th Avenue S., Foster Park) and finishes along Alki Avenue SW in Seattle, in front of Spud's Fish and Chips (2666 Alki Avenue SW). The route is described as very flat with two short hills late in the course. The final miles include views toward Seattle and Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
The event is organized with volunteers and has historically operated with no entry fee, relying on donations to cover costs and to support Northwest Harvest. Support along the course is limited; aid stations have been used in prior editions and an aid station was located about 6.55 miles out in past updates. Relay teams of varying sizes are common. Very limited return transportation has been offered when requested in advance.
Organizers note that participants are responsible for their own safety and preparedness; medical clearance is recommended before attempting marathon distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
