Pigtails Challenge

Renton, United States • 23-24 May 2026

Pigtails Challenge

The Pigtails Challenge takes place at Lake Youngs Watershed near Renton, WA, at 16640 SE Old Petrovitsky Road. The course is a rolling loop around the watershed with about 900 feet of elevation gain per loop.

The loop format makes elevation accumulate over multiple laps; for example a 100 mile entrant completes 10 loops, totaling about 9,000 feet of vertical gain. The course is described as well supported on the loop and is used by runners who want a structured environment for longer distances.

Distances offered include:

  • 200 Mile
  • 150 Mile
  • 100 Miler
  • 100K
  • 50K

For the 150 and 200 mile events the initial 100 or 50 miles are unsupported and may be completed away from Lake Youngs; the remaining 100 miles are run on the Lake Youngs loop with the 100 mile field. Time limits are applied by distance; the 100 mile and 100 km events use a 34 hour cutoff and the 50 km event uses a 10 hour cutoff. All races share a final event cutoff on Sunday. Registration closes Friday, May 22 at 11:59 PM PT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
