Mount Rainier Half Marathon
The Mount Rainier trail events take place at Crystal Mountain near Mount Rainier on July 16-17, 2027. The weekend offers trail races that start at or near the summit and travel through alpine meadows, ridge lines, and old-growth forest. Courses are technical single track with rocky and root-strewn sections that require focused footing and steady downhill or uphill running.
Distances
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon) - summit start, downhill single track through forest and meadows
- 10K - downhill single track from Crystal Mountain summit
- 5K Hill Climb - sustained uphill technical trail to the summit
Every race registration includes an all-day Crystal Mountain gondola pass, listed at a $55 value. Challenge options pair multiple races into weekend series: the Sasquatch Double (5K Hill Climb plus Half Marathon) and the Mountain Goat Triple (5K, 10K, and Half Marathon). Challenge entries include standard race apparel, additional challenge swag, and multiple finisher medals plus a challenge medal.
Event logistics include an on-site race expo with bib pickup, designated parking at Crystal Mountain Resort (Lot B with supplemental lots), and primitive gravel-lot camping and limited no-hookup RV sites. The event follows a cup-free, zero-waste approach: runners must carry reusable bottles, cups, or hydration packs; aid stations provide refill coolers. Awards include place medals for top overall and masters categories and age-group place medals, and finisher medals for all finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
