Great Springs Trail Race - Canyon Lake
The Great Springs Trail Race - Canyon Lake takes place in Canyon Park, located on the north side of Canyon Lake, Texas. This event features a variety of trail running distances through the rugged terrain and winding Madrone Trail. The course is primarily a shaded 7.8 mile loop that follows the shoreline, offering views of the lake and featuring technical sections.
Participants can choose from several race distances:
- 50K (four full loops)
- 25K (two full loops)
- 10K (modified loop of 6.2 miles)
- 5K (modified loop of 3.1 miles)
- Youth 1 Mile
The event follows a cupless policy to protect the natural environment, meaning runners must bring their own hydration vessels. Aid stations are situated at the start/finish line and approximately halfway through the loop, providing water, ice, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks. All races are chip-timed using ankle straps, with official rankings based on gun time.
The race supports the Great Springs Project, which works to protect the Edwards Aquifer and facilitate clean water for the region. The event area at Canyon Park includes a race hub with games for spectators and family members. While there is no camping available inside the park for this event, lodging options are available in nearby cities such as New Braunfels and San Marcos.
