Event Information

The Great Southern Endurance Run is a point-to-point ultramarathon through Atlanta. The route is approximately 100 km in length. The start is at the top of Kennesaw Mountain and the finish is at the top of Stone Mountain.

Course Description

The course runs from Kennesaw Mountain southeast through Marietta towards the Chattahoochee River. It continues parallel to I-75, passes Braves Stadium and the Governor's Mansion in Buckhead, then moves south to Piedmont Park. From downtown Atlanta, the route heads to Stone Mountain for the final climb. The terrain is described as rolling hills, with significant climbs at the start and on Stone Mountain. Most of the route uses sidewalks or bike paths, with a small portion on single-track trails. Some sections require running in a bike lane or on a road shoulder due to a lack of sidewalks.

Other Details

The event is described as an urban adventure run where participants may stop at stores, gas stations, or coffee shops. There are approximately five aid stations or checkpoints along the course. Navigation is done using old-school turn sheets and GPX tracks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
