Course and facilities
The race starts and finishes at the parking area by the Lodge at Red Top Mountain State Park and moves quickly into wooded trails. The terrain includes rolling hills, double track, and minimal roots and rocks. Trails used include Sweet Gum Trail, Homestead Trail, Campground Trail, Iron Hill Trail, and the Visitor Center Loop. The 3.1-mile course has two water stations at 0.65 and 1.85 miles. The 8.85-mile course has five water stations at 0.65, 1.85, 3.30, 6.45, and 7.65 miles. Georgia State Parks requires a $5 parking fee per car or a yearly pass; parking is limited.
Registration, packet pickup and awards
Entry fees are tiered with earlier and late pricing and higher race-day fees. Packet pickup is scheduled the morning of the race. Medals and prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group; recipients must be present to receive medals.
