Run for the Widows and Orphans 5K

The event is the fifth annual Run for the Widows and Orphans 5K held on private property near Rockmart, Georgia. It offers two separate 5K route options on the same day: a road course and a trail course. The road route runs out on surrounding rural roads in an out-and-back format and includes a few gentle hills while being described as relatively flat. The trail route passes through wooded areas, includes several hills and switchbacks, and follows grassy, manicured paths; it is described as relatively challenging.

Registration fees are listed as a $40 pre-registration fee and a $50 day-of-race fee. Organizers are ordering extra event shirts and intend to take leftover shirts to Africa for distribution. All funds collected are allocated to building homes and providing meals for widows and orphans in partnership with Manna Ministries in Kisumu, Kenya.

Awards are given for both routes with matching categories: top three overall males and females, top three masters males and females, and top three males and females in multiple age groups ranging from 10 and under through 80 and over.
