Saturday Sizzler - Carrollton

Saturday Sizzler is a cross country season opener held at the University of West Georgia Cross Country Course in Carrollton, Georgia. The event is hosted by SoleRoots Racing, presented by Carrollton Kiwanis, and organized in partnership with the University of West Georgia Athletics and Cross Country team. It includes school races for middle and high school athletes and an open community race.

Distances included in the event:

• 3K Community Open 3K
• 3K Middle school girls and boys races
• 2 Mile High school race

Community Open 3K registration offers an early bird rate of $25 when completed before August 1 and a standard rate of $35 after that date. For family registrations of a school runner, ten dollars from each Community 3K registration is allocated directly to the athlete’s school to help cover team dues. Remaining additional funds are designated for Carrollton Kiwanis Charities. Schools and independent school athletes register through MileSplit. Spectator admission for those age 12 and older is charged and collected for Carrollton Kiwanis Charities; athletes, coaches included in team rates, and registered Community Open 3K participants are not charged spectator admission but must check in for entry.

Awards recognize individual and team results: middle school and high school top finishers receive medals and top teams are acknowledged; the open race awards overall top finishers and age group medals. A special recognition is given to parents or coaches who outpace their student-athlete in the Beat Your Kid challenge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
