The Great Pumpkin Chase is a fall running event held at Lake Elmo Park Reserve in Minnesota. It features a scenic trail run course.
Distances
The event offers several race options:
- Kids Trail Fun Run (0.5 mile)
- 5k (3.1 mile)
- 10k (6.2 mile)
- Double Up (10k followed immediately by the 5k)
Course and Atmosphere
The course runs on natural trails through the park reserve and includes rolling hills. Aid stations with water and Hammer Electrolytes are provided approximately every 1.5 miles. The event is described as dog-friendly for well-behaved, leashed dogs and walker-friendly.
Post-Race
A post-race bonfire and pancake breakfast is offered, weather permitting. Breakfast is also available to spectators for a fee. A professional photographer is on site at no additional cost, though photos of every athlete are not guaranteed.
Logistics
Packet pickup occurs on race day at the park. Parking at Lake Elmo Park Reserve requires a daily fee; a county parking pass is valid. Timing chips are provided. Awards are given to the top overall male and female athletes and the top three in each age group. Participants in the Fun Run receive finisher medals. Awards must be collected in person.
