Baby Backyard 5K to 50K ULTRA
The Baby Backyard format asks participants to run a 5K every hour for up to ten hours to complete a 50K distance. The 5K course remains open for the full 10-hour event window, and each 5K starts with a mass start every hour. An official finisher is recorded at 5K; participants may continue for additional laps to reach the 50K distance or stop at any point. The event does not record DNFs; the distance each person covers is what is counted.
The event is organized as a community fundraiser. Race registrations are donated to the Children's Minnesota Kids Cancer Fund to support patients and families facing life changing medical conditions.
A virtual option is available. Virtual participants follow the same hourly 5K structure on their chosen course and receive race day swag by mail.
On-site amenities include a primary cover at the start/finish with water, swag, and snacks, plus some ice and a community tent with tables and chairs. Participants may bring their own supplies and dietary items. Crews are welcome. Pacers may run but should only be on course when their runner is actively running that lap. Children may run, walk, or ride for free.
