Sandlot Marathon

Sandlot Marathon is a looped baseball field running event held at Dave Anderson Athletic Complex in Elk River, Minnesota. The 2026 race date is March 28, 2026. The event is organized by D.U.R.T, a runners group that describes its motto as "I just want to run with friends."

Distances

  • Marathon: 384.55 loops equals 26.2 miles
  • Minor League Half Marathon: 192 and a quarter loops

The course uses repeated circuits around the baseball field and will be marked with orange cones. Runners are expected to stay within the base paths except when passing; the pitcher's mound will remain on the runner's left when rounding the bases. There is one aid station every loop located near the on deck circle by the home team bench along the first base line. Aid includes hot dog flavored Heed and standard supplies. Drop bags are permitted.

The marathon has a six hour cutoff and no qualification standards. The event is not accepted as a Boston Marathon qualifier, a Western States qualifier, nor does it earn points toward UTMB. Race directors reserve the right to drug test for performance enhancing drugs. Support crews and spectators are welcome and children may attend. Littering is prohibited. Results and lists of finishers and DNFs will be posted after the race. Awards include a baseball card for the top overall finisher and unique finisher awards for others.
