Gold Coast Backyard Ultra

Gold Coast Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra running event on the Gold Coast scheduled for March 13, 2027. The format uses repeated one hour loops called yards; each yard measures 6.71 km and a new yard starts on the hour. A runner must complete each yard within the hour and start the next yard to remain in the race. The event continues until only one person remains.

The course is fully marked and mixes surfaces including road, grass, trail and beach. Course elevation per loop is listed as 16 m ascent and 19 m descent. The event location is Doug Jennings Park at Main Beach, Gold Coast. Total distance is open ended and depends on how many yards a runner completes.

Entries open July 1 with an early bird fee of $220 for the first 100 entries and a regular fee of $250 until places are sold out. Entries are capped at 300. Event inclusions noted by the organiser include a finishers medal, free race day photos, communal snacks and hydration, and a recovery zone with ice baths, foam rollers and recovery boots. Runners who complete more than 24 yards are entered into a prize draw and there are prizes for the last person standing and an assist. A teams challenge is available where teams of four combine individual yard totals for a collective score. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
