Global Running Day Trail Run/Walk

The Global Running Day Trail Run/Walk is an outdoor athletic event taking place in Okemos, Michigan. Participants navigate a 2.25-mile loop that traverses the trails of the 100-acre Harris Nature Center and Eastgate Park. The course provides an opportunity to observe the local ecosystem, including forest, meadows, and wetlands situated along the Red Cedar River.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Harris Nature Center Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports educational projects and facility enhancements within Meridian Township. Proceeds from the 2026 event are directed toward school bus scholarships for nature education programs and the construction of a new play structure at the center.

The start and finish line are located at the trailhead adjacent to the Harris Nature Center building. After finishing the course, participants can gather at the center's pavilion for music and refreshments. The event is open to families, and registration for children aged five and under is free of charge.

Parking is available on-site at the Harris Nature Center lot, though space is limited. Additional parking can be found at Legg Park, located approximately 0.25 miles from the center's entrance. In the event of active weather warnings or a heat index exceeding 100, the run will be cancelled for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
