Global Running Day Trail Run Walk Motivated by Nature
This event is a community run and walk held at Harris Nature Center with a loop course that visits trails and paved sections through Harris Nature Center and Eastgate Park. The route begins at the Nature Center trailhead, follows trails and paved areas to Eastgate Park, and returns to the Nature Center for a total distance of 2.25 miles.
The event functions as a fundraiser for the Harris Nature Center Foundation. Early registration fee is $25 through May 14, with a higher fee thereafter. Kids aged 10 and under are free but must be registered. Proceeds will support improvements to the Nature Exploration Area, including a new Hawk's Nest feature.
After finishing, participants may use the Center pavilion where refreshments will be available. Harris Nature Center is located along the Red Cedar River within Meridian Riverfront Park and is surrounded by approximately six miles of trails, forest, meadows, wetlands and riverbank habitat. The Nature Building offers educational displays and live animal exhibits.
The event has a weather policy that calls for cancellation if there is an active weather warning or if the heat index exceeds 100. Because this event is a fundraiser, registration fees and costs are non refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
