Glentress Trail Marathon

The Glentress Trail Marathon takes place on Sunday 15th February 2026 in Glentress Forest, part of the Tweed Valley Forest Park between Peebles and Innerleithen, about one hour from Edinburgh. The marathon distance is approximately 42K, made up of two circuits of a 21.6K route. The route total ascent is around 1,260 m, with each 21k circuit climbing about 633 m and a high point near 572 m.

The course uses a mix of hard packed gravel, forest singletrack, sections of open moorland and mountain bike trails including the Tower Trail and blue, red and black routes. Named sections on the route include Spooky Wood, the Goat Track, The High Hut, Roller Coaster and The Home Straight. All routes will be fully marked so navigation experience is not required. The event uses Forestry Commission permission to run on MTB trails; runners are advised that the trails are shared with mountain bikes at other times.

There are two hydration stations on each 21k circuit plus one at the half way/finish area. Locations may change in icy conditions and no cups will be provided, so participants should be prepared to carry personal drink containers. Facilities at the visitor centre include a cafe, changing, toilets, showers and on-site camping. Entry details include an entry fee of £53 plus online booking fee, a minimum age of 17, and a refundable portion up to six weeks before the event. Registration requires in-person collection of race numbers and personal ID. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
