Event overview

The Glentress Trail Marathon takes place on Sunday 15 February 2026 in Glentress Peel Visitor Centre, in the Tweed Valley Forest Park between Peebles and Innerleithen. The event is held alongside 21k, 10k and 5k trail races. Entry details list a fee of £53 plus a 4% online booking charge and a minimum entry age of 17. A 50% refund (minus the online booking fee) is available up to six weeks before the event, subject to the event terms and conditions.

Course and logistics

  • 42K marathon distance (two laps of the 21k circuit).
  • 21.6 km per 21k circuit.

The marathon comprises two circuits of the 21k route. Each 21k circuit has about 633 m of ascent and 630 m of descent, with the course high point at 572 m. Total ascent for the 42k is given as approximately 1,260 m. The route uses a mix of hard-packed forest tracks, singletrack, sections of open moorland and parts of the Tower, Blue, Red and Black mountain bike trails. All routes will be fully marked.

There are two hydration stations on each 21k circuit and one at the halfway/finish area, located approximately at Spooky Wood (about 6 km and 27 km) and Tower Rig (about 12 km and 33 km). No cups are provided; participants are asked to carry their own bottle or bladder. An intermediate cut-off applies at the end of the first lap and an overall time limit applies for the full event. Mandatory kit is required for winter conditions. On-site facilities include a café, changing, toilets, showers and camping. Car parking at Glentress uses ANPR charging.
