Gleaners Hunger Free Summer Race

The event takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Freedom River in Brighton, Michigan. It is organized by Gleaners Community Food Bank as part of the Hunger Free Summer campaign to support food security in Southeast Michigan. Registration opens January 3, 2026. Proceeds and donations are matched by Citizens and other donors, which doubles the meal impact; Gleaners reports it can provide three meals per dollar and six meals per dollar when the match applies.

Event details

Early registration prices and shirt availability are provided: 5K early registration including a shirt is $30 until June 7, then $35 with limited sizes, and $40 on race day without a shirt. The 1 mile early registration including a shirt is $25 until June 7, then $30 with limited sizes, and $35 on race day without a shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries by June 7; adult and youth sizes are available.

The course is a cross-country type route with trails, fields, pavement, and slight hills. The race is chip timed and results are professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Early packet pickup is June 18 at The Running Lab in Brighton; race day packet pickup is at Freedom River. Plenty of onsite parking is available. Team and age-group awards are included.
