DBC Gifts of Love Community 5K
The DBC Gifts of Love Community 5K is a fundraising event held at the Vollmer Road Grove Forest Preserve in Flossmoor, Illinois. The primary mission of the run and walk is to raise funds to provide book bags, school supplies, and clothing gift cards for homeless school-aged children and families in the Chicago south suburbs. The event is organized by DBC Gifts of Love, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Participants can choose between two event formats:
- 5K
- Virtual 5K
The in-person route takes place on a paved trail. Registration for the physical event includes a race bib and an event t-shirt for those who register by the designated deadline. Participants can access on-site refreshments as they complete sections of the trail, with additional beverages and snacks available at the shelter near the registration area following the activity.
The event includes an opening ceremony and a medal ceremony for participants. Those opting for the virtual format can choose their own route and distance, with t-shirts mailed to them prior to the event date. A livestream of the opening ceremony is also provided for virtual participants.
All registration fees and donations contribute toward the goal of supporting children in need within the Chicago Southland community. On-site registration is available on the day of the event for the in-person 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
