9/11 Stair Climb - Crown Point

9/11 Stair Climb / 1 Mile Walk : Crown Pont, IN
The event is held at the Lake County Fairgrounds Grandstand in Crown Pont, IN. The stair climb reproduces the Towers total of 1,980 steps by asking participants to complete 17 laps of a 120-step grandstand. Each participant receives 17 pennies and drops one after each completed lap; when the pennies are gone the climb is finished.
Event formats include:
- 9/11 Stair Climb Fast Division running the stairs
- 9/11 Stair Climb General Division walking the stairs
- 1 Mile Non timed Walk
Participants may receive a finisher medal for the first 200 registrants and a wristband bearing the name of a 9/11 hero, firefighter, or police officer associated with the event. Participants are encouraged to research their assigned hero and may place printed photos on the on site memorial wall during sign in.
Fees listed include $30 for the climb, $20 for the walk and for children ages 3 to 12, with children under 3 free. Shirts are an additional $16 through 8/31. Police, firefighter and EMT registrants are offered a $9.11 discount with a code and are asked to show proof of service at packet pickup. The event supports purchase of SWAT T tourniquets used by Crown Point Fire Rescue. No refunds will be given and registrations are nontransferable after September 1.
