Ghost Town Trail Challenge

The Ghost Town Trail Challenge is the 11th annual event on June 20, 2026 in Ebensburg, PA, hosted by the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority. The event features endurance hike and run options that follow the Ghost Town Trail and finish at the Young People’s Community Center in Ebensburg.

Available challenge distances include:

  • 50 Miler Run (50 miles) runners only
  • Full Challenge (32 miles) 50k
  • Half Challenge (16 miles) 25k
  • Friends Family Challenge (7.5 miles) 12k

Each distance has an individual start location along the trail and a common finish at the YPCC in Ebensburg. Transportation will be provided from the finish to starting areas. Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the event at the Up N Running store in Ebensburg.

Aid and first aid support are provided along the trail. For the 32, 25, and 12 mile events there are five aid stations spaced roughly every 5 to 6 miles; additional aid stations and first aid patrollers serve the 50 mile route with food, drinks, and basic medical supplies. The 32 mile route gains approximately 1,000 feet of elevation; the 50 mile route gains about 1,500 feet overall. Proceeds support enhancement and expansion of the Cambria County Trails.
