Chernisky Classic

The Chernisky Classic is a community running event held in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, at the Young People's Community Center (YPCC), 300 Prave Street. The event features races on the Ghost Town Trail, a nationally recognized rail-trail named the 2020 Trail of the Year. Routes are out and back on the paved trail and are clearly marked.

The event program includes:

  • 10K out and back on the Ghost Town Trail
  • 5K out and back on the Ghost Town Trail
  • Firecracker Race free for children age 8 and under

Cold water is available at the start and finish and on the trail. The 5K course passes a water station at the turnaround; the 10K passes that station twice. Restrooms are located at the start and finish area at YPCC. Same day packet pick-up and race day registration are offered. Participants who start with the competitive group are officially timed and eligible for prizes. Prizes are awarded to the top five male and top five female finishers in both the 5K and the 10K.

Race registration includes a commemorative race shirt or tank top for registrants who select the item. The first 400 finishers receive a voucher to a Johnstown Tomahawks game. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit the Training Facility of the Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
