Chernisky Classic - July 11, 2026
The Chernisky Classic is the 12th annual community running event held in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. It features out-and-back courses on the nationally recognized Ghost Town Trail, which was named the 2020 Trail of the Year. The event includes a free Firecracker Race for children age 8 and under. Firetrucks and firefighters will be present to greet and interact with kids.
Distances offered:
- 5K out-and-back on the Ghost Town Trail
- 10K out-and-back on the Ghost Town Trail
Cold water is available at the start/finish and on the trail. The 5K course passes a water station at the turnaround; the 10K passes a water station twice. Restrooms are located at the Start/Finish at the Young People's Community Center, 300 Prave Street, Ebensburg, PA 15931.
Same-day packet pick-up and race day registration are available. Participants who start early will not be officially timed or eligible for prizes; a separate competitive start is officially timed and awards prizes to the top five male and female finishers in each distance. The first 400 finishers receive a voucher to a Johnstown Tomahawks game. 100% of proceeds benefit the Training Facility of the Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association.
