Freedom Backyard Ultra Marathon (FBUM 2027)

The Freedom Backyard Ultra Marathon is a Last Man Standing ultramarathon scheduled for June 5, 2027 at the Missouri Freedom Camp in Bourbon, Missouri. The event uses a repeating loop format in which competitors complete successive laps called Yards.

Each loop is required to be 4 miles 880 feet (6.7056 kilometers) in length. The course runs through undulating Midwest terrain with rolling hills, creek crossings, fields, small gravel road sections, rocky and root covered trails, and wooded technical sections. About half of the course is wooded and shaded during the day. The starting corral and the main aid station are located at the barn next to the farm house. A small water point is placed along the course. The main aid station will offer food, drinks, and supplements for the duration of the event.

The format follows Backyard Ultra rules: each Yard begins exactly one hour after the previous Yard, a Yard must be completed in less than an hour to count, competitors must remain on course except for restroom breaks, and no personal aid is allowed during a Yard. The winner is the last person to complete a Yard; results record the number of Yards completed. The race is open ended and all proceeds are donated to the Freedom 13 Organization.

Onsite camping will be available. There are hotels approximately 15 minutes away in Sullivan, Missouri. A pre-race dinner will be held the night before at the Missouri Freedom Camp. Race shirts are promised to racers who register before May 5; later registrations are not guaranteed a shirt. There are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
