Dirty Spokes presents the Fort Yargo Cannonball Run, a trail running event on December 5, 2026. The race is part of the Dirty Spokes Off The Grid Trail Run Series and is presented by Chateau Elan. Two course options are offered and the venue is Fort Yargo State Park, Entrance B, Winder, Georgia.
Location and logistics
The event uses Entrance B at Fort Yargo State Park (210 South Broad Street, Winder, GA). Registration and the start/finish area are located at the lower parking lot by the lake near the pavilion and UGA Boathouse. Packet pickup is available the morning of the race. Dirty Spokes will donate money to the Yargo Trail Crew for trail maintenance.

The 8.50-mile course is measured at 8.33 miles by GPS and 8.50 miles by a calibrated bicycle computer. The 3.10-mile course is measured at 2.94 miles by GPS and 3.10 miles by a calibrated bicycle computer. Both routes start on the powerlines at Entrance B and enter the woods. The longer course includes a mix of smooth sections and technical sections with rocks and roots. The shorter course is described as very easy to navigate with minimal roots and rocks. Both distances share the route until about 0.25 miles, where they split after a bridge.
Entry, shirts and awards
Entry fees are tiered: early, late, and race-day pricing for each distance. A tri-blend event shirt will be provided, but shirts are not guaranteed for late or race-day registrations. Medals and prizes are awarded to the top three male and female overall finishers in each race and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group; winners must be present to receive medals. Walkers may participate but must be able to complete the courses at a 16-minute-per-mile pace or faster to receive an official time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
