Event overview
The Fire on the Rocks 10K is an intermediate level trail race at Zindel Park in McElhattan, PA, presented by the PA Trail Dogs. The event date is March 14, 2026. Entry is open to the first 400 runners, hikers, or walkers. Registration opens December 16, 2025 via Ultrasignup. The event policy states no refunds, no bib transfers, no deferrals, and no bandits. Post-race refreshments, including sticky buns and drinks, are provided at the Durty Dabbers Pavilion.
Course and logistics
The course is about 6.6 miles with roughly 1,400 feet of climbing and uses local trails also used for the Frozen Snot and Boulder Beast races. The route follows Reservoir Road and a sequence of named trails, including Keller's Bench, Black Diamond, Change Up, Kammerdiner, Debbies Drop, Park Trail, Gorge Trail, Gut Check, Lightning Ridge, Final Cut, Creekside, and sections near the Zindel house before returning to the pavilion. All parking is at the Restless Oaks parking lot (119 Pine Mountain Rd, McElhattan, PA 17748); shuttle buses will transport participants to the start area or participants may walk the half-mile up Reservoir Road.
