FATS

North Augusta, United States • 2 Nov 2025

Event overview

The FATS special edition takes place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Forks Area Trail System (FATS) in Sumter National Forest near North Augusta, SC. Distances offered:

  • 50K
  • Half Marathon
  • 10K

This edition uses an adjusted course because the Deep Step trail is closed for 2025. Registration closes Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Course, aid, and logistics

The course is built from three primary loops: Great Wall, Skinny, and Brown Wave. The 50K uses all three loops with the Great Wall loop run a second time to complete the distance. Trails are almost entirely single-track, shaded, and rolling, with rocks and roots. Trail markers use colors: Bright Red for Great Wall, Blue for Skinny, and Orange for Brown Wave.

Aid support includes multiple staffed aid stations with water, gels, soda, ginger ale, snacks, fruit, chips, salt, potatoes, salt caps, and PB&J sandwiches. There are also two water-only drops on the course. The event is cup free; runners are expected to carry their own hydration. Drop bags may be sent to the main aid stations (Aid Station 1, 3, and 4); no drop bags at Aid Station 2. Parking at the start/finish is limited with overflow along the forest service road and parking directors on site. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Fleet Feet in Augusta and on race morning at the picnic table in the parking lot. Pets are not allowed on race day and the trails are remote with distance markers every half mile. A wet trail policy may move the event to forest service roads or result in cancellation without refunds, with proceeds used for trail maintenance.
