Rut Rogue 40s
Rut Rogue 40s is a trail running event scheduled for February 7, 2027, associated with Plum Branch, South Carolina. The Wine, Turkey, and Modoc trails remain closed after Hurricane Helene, and organizers are seeking alternative locations to hold the 2027 event.
The event offers multiple distance options:
- 40 Miler
- 50K
- 40K and relay teams (2 to 5 runners)
The race takes place mostly on wooded single-track trails with creekside sections. The route includes rocks, roots, bridges, logs, and water crossings, and it is marked at specific turns. Most of the course follows 99 percent single-track trail with few side trails. No pacers or crews are allowed; spectators can use the start and finish area to cheer.
Aid stations are provided for all distances, typically spaced every 5 to 7 miles, with 3 to 5 stations depending on the event. Typical aid station supplies include water, TailWind, soft drinks, and assorted snacks. The event is cup free, so runners must carry their own hydration. Drop bags are accepted for 40 milers and are transported to aid stations at approximately miles 22 and 34.
Relay teams complete five legs of varying lengths; teams may not run consecutive legs. Top awards are given to the first three men and women in the main distances, and finisher items are provided to all finishers. Registration opens October 1, 2026. There are no refunds for any reason. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
