Event information

The Essex XC Championships is scheduled for 3 January 2026 at Gloucester Park, Basildon, SS14 3GR. Entries close on 21 December 2025. The courses are multi-lap and described as fairly challenging; course maps will be shared closer to the event. Entry fees range from £4 to £8. The event is held under UKA Rules. All entrants must be members of England Athletics with a current Athlete registration and must be eligible to compete in the Essex Championships by birth in Essex or by continuous residence in Essex for the nine months before the event. Team medals are scored with four to count for all age groups except senior men, which score six. UKA Anti-Doping Rules apply to entrants for 12 months from the date of entering the event.

  • U11 girls and boys - 1.5 km (ages 9 or 10 on 31 Aug 2025). Non-championship race.
  • U13 girls - 3.1 km (ages 11 or 12 on 31 Aug 2025).
  • U13 boys - 3.1 km (ages 11 or 12 on 31 Aug 2025).
  • U15 girls - 4.3 km (ages 13 or 14 on 31 Aug 2025).
  • U15 boys - 4.3 km (ages 13 or 14 on 31 Aug 2025).
  • U17 women - 5.2 km (ages 15 or 16 on 31 Aug 2025).
  • U17 men & U20 women - 6.1 km (men 15 or 16; women 17 to 19 on 31 Aug 2025).
  • Senior women & U20 men - 8 km (senior women 20+; U20 men 17 to 19 on 31 Aug 2025). Entrants should be capable of finishing 8 km within 65 minutes.
  • Senior men - 12 km (men 20+ on 31 Aug 2025). Any senior man who has not completed two laps (8 km) within 50 minutes will be asked to retire.
